Tony Cliffe

Tony joined Airswift in 2006 as a Finance Assistant and quickly advanced within the accounting function. After completing his ACCA in 2010 through Airswift's professional education program, he progressed from Country Accountant to Regional Financial Controller. Following the merger of Air Energi and Swift Worldwide Resources in 2016, Tony relocated to Manchester to become EMEA & CIS Financial Director, where he set up the finance shared service centre and transitioned the Middle East finance function to the UK. In August 2023, Tony was appointed Group Tax and Strategic Finance Director. Outside of work, Tony is a highly accomplished powerlifter, with multiple British, European, and World titles, and was inducted into the IPF Hall of Fame in 2024. He lives near Manchester with his wife and three children.

I’m passionate about my role because it allows me to make a significant impact on Airswift's financial strategy, balancing complex problem-solving with key decision-making. I thrive on navigating complex tax regulation, managing risks, and driving financial opportunities, as it keeps me intellectually engaged and continuously learning.

Which Airswift value(s) do you believe are particularly important and why? 

While integrity is fundamental in my tax governance role, I also resonate strongly with the values of growth and life. Having developed my career with Airswift, I consider myself a testament to the company’s commitment to its values.
