Description:
Reporting to the Drilling Engineering Manager, the SAP Specialist will manage the creation, fulfillment, and closeout of Purchase Requisitions/Orders for Alaska projects. The position is responsible for using independent judgment to generate Purchase Requisitions in the SAP procure-to-pay system in alignment with project procedures and available budgets. The SAP Specialist will work closely with the Accounts Payable team to provide completed invoice submissions within net terms agreements. The successful candidate shall possess the broad range of skills and experience necessary to work independently on complex projects and assignments.
This position will work closely with the Facilities team, providing direct support to Project Managers and Engineers. It will also provide backup support to other teams as needed.
Key Accountabilities:

Promote and lead in the implementation of company policies and procedures, including safety, health, environment, process, people, and planning.

Initiate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) in the finance system based on inputs from Supply Chain & Drilling & Completions teams, using independent judgment to gather all required information.

Work with the Cost Control Specialist to ensure appropriate Network/Activity codes are utilized in PRs.

Notify Engineers and Supply Chain when PRs have been submitted.

Monitor PR completion in the system and notify the Project team when Purchase Orders (POs) are in place.

Escalate PR delays or SAP system issues and propose solutions to resolve them.

Participate in project cost reviews and address questions related to PRs & POs.

Upon receipt of an invoice, work with the appropriate Project Manager to verify services and accurately create a Service Entry Sheet for invoice payment. Use judgment to verify activity and proactively identify areas for improvement.

Review, analyze, and process non-PO invoices.

Cost specialist training, development, and duties as assigned, including:

Review, analysis, and updating of project VOWD / Forecast values.

Review, assign, and update cost coding and allocations as necessary.

Track and log changes/trends as needed and assist with potential change orders as required.

Alert project management to cost overruns or errors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or an engineering-related field is preferred.

Relevant cost control certifications are highly desirable.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Experience working in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment, such as SAP or Oracle, is desired.

At least five years of progressive experience in cost control or a related discipline.

Knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry is preferred, ideally within an exploration and production company.

Experience working on major capital projects, ideally in a harsh weather or logistically challenging environment.
