Job description:
The Health Method Advisor is responsible for overseeing emergency medical activities setup for all day-to-day operations. The person coordinates with all project´s Contractors medical teams including doctors, nurses, technicians, and other support personnel, in cooperation with HSE, Construction and HR departments
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• In collaboration with HSE, develop and implement operational plans for emergencies including natural disasters or mass casualty events.
Participates to organization of large and medium scale exercises.
• Assist the Medical Support Manager (MSM) over the medical division operations. Adviser to MSM and HSE regarding site’s needs and medical specifications for Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC)
• Check and correct the Contractors protocols for medical care, including infection control procedures and sterilization techniques
• Guide, accompany and coordinate the medical teams of the project Contractors to set up their medical facilities on the Project sites according to project´s standards
• Coordinate with other departments such as human resources, HSE, Construction to ensure that project´s policies are being followed.
• Supervise the hiring process for the new medical staff of the Contractors (nurses, first aiders,) to ensure that they meet the client´s requirements
• Help and coordinate the medical teams of Contractors to standardize the supply chain and maintenance of medical equipment in collaboration with the contract and procurement referents
• Follow research on new medical treatments and technologies to determine their feasibility and value on remote sites (e.g telemedicine)
• Provide training programs to Contractors' and Sub-contractors' medical staff on relevant topics such as safe work practices, emergency response, nursing care, etc)
• Organize regular trainings and emergency drills on site to train Contractors and Sub-contractors’ inexperienced staff.
• Develop and implement plans to maintain a safe environment for employees and staff
• Coordinate requests from client´s Offices and remote sites for medical advice and MEDEVAC in close collaboration with the MSM
• Regular field survey and site’s clinic assessment (patient records, equipment, maintenance, hygiene, ambulance…etc.)
• Possible mobilization during night, or weekend, or public holidays on hierarchy demand
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Graduate Anesthetist Nurse (5 years training);
- .Expertise in the management of intra- or extra-hospital vital failures.
- Experience in an isolated and operational environment
- Knowledge of tropical pathology and good knowledge of Africa
- Language: Fluent in English - speaking, writing; some Kiswahili highly beneficial
- Professional Experience: 10 years of hospital experience in the emergency sector, resuscitation, cardiology, operating room, extra-hospital emergency response
- 10 years of medical facility experience in remote site with high experience in medical evacuation
