Airswift is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work on a permanent contract in Guyana with a large company specializing in engineering, procurement and construction solutions.
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment used on-site. The role ensures the functionality and safety of all equipment to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, mobile cranes).
Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, welding, or machining equipment.
Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with manufacturer standards.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
Work collaboratively with operators and supervisors to identify potential issues.
Ensure tools and workshop areas are clean, organized, and in good condition.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Certification or diploma in heavy equipment mechanics or equivalent experience.
Experience in repairing heavy machinery.
Proficiency in hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
