Role Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities may include:
Permit Management:
- Secure and manage all construction permits for the project.
- Ensure permits are obtained before work begins and remain valid throughout the project.
- Track permit statuses, renewal dates, and compliance obligations.
- Identify necessary permits for the scope of work each day and ensure compliance.
- Stay informed on relevant standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Monitor worksite activities for adherence to permit conditions.
- Conduct regular audits to confirm that permits and regulatory requirements are being met.
- Maintain accurate records of permits, applications, approvals, inspections, and related communications.
- Identify and address potential permit-related issues or delays.
- Ensure project teams and subcontractors are aware of site rules and legal obligations.
- Monitor compliance with statutory requirements, HSE management plans, and HSEQ deliverables.
- Apply disciplinary actions as necessary for breaches of HSE processes and rules.
- Participate in investigations of incidents and accidents within the required timeframe.
- Supervise delivery vehicles to ensure proper site entry and movement.
- Ensure work is performed according to Construction Risk Assessments (CRAWs).
- Conduct daily Critical Control Verifications and work area inspections.
- Undertake HSE duties as assigned by the Project HSE Manager, including training and risk workshops.
- Ensure installation, maintenance, and updates of safety signage, such as designated access points.
- Enforce compliance with PPE requirements and promote safety within the team.
- Provide leadership in HSE matters, encouraging safe behavior and environmental protection.
- Communicate work methods and training needs clearly to project personnel.
- Ensure equipment is suitable for the work, certified, and operated by authorized personnel.
- Act on safety concerns raised by workers and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Extensive experience as an HSE Advisor in the mining/construction industry.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to achieving excellent health and safety outcomes.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in conducting pre-starts, toolbox talks, and CRAWs.
- Deep knowledge of relevant HSE legislation and standards.
- Familiar with integrated management systems and their application.
- Proactive, goal-oriented, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective in managing change and helping others adapt to new tasks and environments.
- Integrity-driven, trusted to consistently honor commitments.
- Skilled in identifying issues and opportunities, making timely decisions, and developing solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels and delivering presentations.
- Demonstrates initiative and a continuous desire to improve performance.
- Ability to work effectively in both small and large, multi-disciplinary teams and share knowledge.
- Experienced in managing multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Trainer and Assessor qualifications.
- ICAM, TAPROOT, or similar investigation methodology qualifications.
- Return to Work Coordinator qualifications.
- Auditor qualifications.
- Working at Heights and Confined Space qualifications.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- White Card.
