HVAC Engineer – Milan, Italy.
Brief Job Overview
The HVAC Engineer is responsible for the control and report of HVAC detailed engineering work and assists the Commissioning and Start-up / Operation team for the start-up of The Project and ensures compliance of material with detailed engineering related documentation.
- Based in Milan during Engineering phase.
- May relocate to Site during Construction activities at Engineering completion or provide remote support from home office.
Key responsibilities and main tasks:
- Assure the HVAC discipline issuance, review, and approval of around 2,000 technical documents for more than 80 buildings.
- Ensure all Project HSE requirements are adhered to and implemented. Ensure HSE is emphasized throughout all HVAC design activities. Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
- Follow-up of engineering development activities progress related to HVAC Systems by the contractors and packages vendors. The activities include the review and comment of engineering and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with design dossier, SOR, project specifications and HSE regulation, international codes and classification society rules.
- Supervise the engineering contractors in charge of carrying out detailed design of HVAC engineering in compliance with project specifications and procedures, discipline requirements and international codes, with respect of cost, schedule and required level of quality and safety of the project.
- Develop Detail Engineering and ensure consistency in various detail Engineering documentations and deliverables and ITT documents.
- Assist Corporate Planning & Development team members in addressing the HVAC concerns and queries, when required,
- Supervise and promote cost-saving solutions in the design, ensure that the design is standardized as much as practicable,
- Check the quality of the HVAC engineering documents prepared by the Contractor(s) and his subcontractors & vendors, provide required comments in due time, lead via PRODOM the documentation promptly, in accordance with contract procedures and requirements,
- Check the incorporation of project team comments by the Contractor(s) and his subcontractors / vendors in subsequent submissions,
- Monitor engineering, procurement, construction expediting, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for discipline related activities. Participate with CTR to the progress and technical meetings with vendors, to the inspections at vendors’ plants when/as required,
- Identify potential deviations from the project specifications and report these to the Engineering Manager for final decision on whether to implement,
- Ensure a delivery detailed engineering in due time to secure project execution schedule,
- Ensure close coordination with other disciplines on all engineering, constructability, and operational matters during detailed design development, typically 3D model development, layout reviews, etc.
- Treat all information obtained during course of the work with confidentiality,
- Keep a pro-active attitude in front of future interlocutors (Contractors, Vendors, etc.),
- Assist to prepare detailed scope of work and proposal MDR for HVAC discipline covering for EPC, all in line with Statement of Requirements,
- Assist with the review of the other discipline deliverables and participate to HAZOPs.
- Report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager any area of concern concerning quality or discipline progress.
- Ensure the quality and completeness of HVAC Final Documentation (deliverables both from the Contractor and the Vendors):
- In compliance with Project Scope of Work, Specifications and Procedures.
- Allowing an adequate hand-over to the Operation of the Subsidiary
- Ensure timely delivery, review, and approval of studies and documents under his responsibility to enable the procurement, fabrication, and Construction / Installation of Equipment to progress and to site commissioning and start up.
- Work in Onshore Engineering team in the overall Onshore organization.
- Work in the field Engineering team during field activities.
The experience shall include:
- Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline.
- Registration as a Charted Engineer, PE or equivalent preferred
- Proficient in English language.
- Eight (8) or more years’ experience in Oil and Gas and large projects.
- Expertise on design and operation of HVAC equipment.
- Supervisory experience related to plant and project engineering with increasing size and responsibility.
