This position is required to support multiple assets across the business unit and provide mechanical static equipment, package and piping engineering expertise and knowledge.
Project assignments range from front-end conceptual engineering, through detail engineering, specification, procurement, and commissioning.
This position also provides subject matter expertise with respect to capital projects and existing assets and with regards in mechanical topside equipment and packages.
To take a lead role in liaison with the mechanical discipline function with JV partner.
Based in the Jakarta office with necessary support to project design, fabrication and manufacturing centres, and offshore locations.
Responsibilities and Key Objectives
Health, Safety, & Environment
- Ensure contractor compliance with the HSSE aspects of project engineering procedures
- Demonstrate exemplary commitment to MP’s HSSE goals and culture.
- Implement local and international design codes and practices to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Implement company mechanical engineering related procedures and specifications in line with current industry codes and best practices.
- Preparation of design basis, philosophies and specifications related to mechanical static equipment, packages and piping disciplines.
- Lead mechanical improvement opportunities for assets within the business unit.
- Develop mechanical and piping design philosophies, and specifications.
- Review the design works and studies performed by the engineering consultants and ensure that they are in accordance with the technical requirements and meeting the schedules. Review and approve drawings, specification and technical documents for all static mechanical and piping design related work.
- Responsible for the design, specification, selection, and services relating to static mechanical and packaged equipment, and piping.
- Responsible for the technical interface with vendors and equipment suppliers including the review of design deliverables and integration of vendor information into the overall facility design.
- Maintain a complete record of technical deliverables and correspondence to support design decisions and equipment selection, documenting all key mechanical engineering and piping calculations.
- Prepare scopes of work in relation to the mechanical and piping discipline and interfaces, and review and evaluate technical submissions prior to award.
- Oversee mechanical and piping works performed by consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure timely completion and compliance with the technical specifications and contract or purchase order.
- Management of mechanical equipment and piping vendors to evaluate technical bids, review vendor documentation, and attend factory inspections as required.
Education
Min. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred for senior roles or specialized projects.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years’ experience mechanical static equipment and package design and specification, and piping design, equipment layout and specification, including considerable practical experience in the fabrication and installation for offshore facilities.
- Experience of working as part of a multi discipline team for facilities engineering projects and/or offshore development projects.
Specific Competencies Reuqired
- Knowledge of offshore structures, piping systems, rotating equipment, and subsea systems.
- Familiarity with high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments.
- Proficiency in design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, AutoCAD) and software for finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Understanding of international and local standards such as API, ASME, ISO, and DNV.
- Certifications (preferred but not always mandatory):
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) designation.
- Certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional), ASME certifications, or subsea engineering credentials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Project management and leadership capabilities for senior positions.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to remote offshore locations or project sites.
- Medical fitness for offshore work, which may include passing physical tests for certifications like BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training).
