The Company

Our client is a well-known consultancy with multiple offices across the globe. As a result of ongoing business growth, they are looking for an experienced individuals to join their business to work on their latest major project.

 

The Role

Working alongside client's Engineer and Architects, you will be working with a team to work on a major project for a client. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of control systems for our projects, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects across various industries, including manufacturing, energy, and automation.

 

Responsibilities

From a technical perspective you will have experience in;

  • Design, develop, and commission control systems, including PLC, SCADA, HMI, and DCS systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize control system performance for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and modify control logic, programming, and system configurations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system requirements and specifications are met.
  • Participate in project planning, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct testing and validation to ensure control systems meet safety and performance standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for control systems on-site and remotely.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of control system configurations, changes, and test results.
  • Assist in coordinating the preparation of the project deliverables including documents for various project phases and tender documentation as required.
  • Supervising the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs of Control System engineering projects and ensuring project work complies with conditions and parameters set out in the project scope of works.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in control systems engineering, ideally in a relevant industry.
  • Proficiency in PLC, SCADA, HMI, and/or DCS programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware).
  • Experience working within mining and minerals processing.
  • Familiarity with process control communications protocols including EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC, ProfNet.
  • Experience in control system design and documentation.
  • Competency with PLC software development such as ladder logic and Function Block Diagram, preferably RS Logix & Unity.
  • Familiarity with electrical LV design, drawings and related electrical documentation.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, process control, and automation technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specific industry standards and regulations, such as IEC, ANSI, or ISA.
  • Knowledge of advanced control methodologies (PID, adaptive control, model predictive control).
  • Certification in control systems or automation (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician).
  • Experience with cybersecurity in control systems.
