Position: Senior HSE Manager
Company: Tier 1 EPCM in Mining
Location: 15:13 FIFO ext. Perth to Pilbara Region
Employment Type: Contractor
Contract length: Initially 12 Months - Subjected to extensions


Role Responsibilities
The role has a back-to-back Health & Safety Manager and works on a 15-days on, 13-days off roster. This may include responsibilities but not limited to:
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure compliance with WA Safety Legislation.
    • Develop and implement health & safety documentation.
 
  • Contractor Management
    • Manage contractor alignment and mobilisation.
    • Inspect and audit contractor compliance.
    • Verify contractors' adherence to safety systems.
 
  • Leadership & Training
    • Lead the project team to achieve health and safety goals.
    • Champion ICARE, SMM, and safety initiatives.
    • Develop and implement training programs.
    • Provide visible leadership and resources for HSMP, CEMP, ICARE, and CRM initiatives.
 
  • Safety Systems & Audits
    • Maintain a robust hazard identification system.
    • Ensure a safe system of work with regular audits.
    • Lead safety interactions, inspections, and audits.
 
  • Emergency & Risk Management
    • Manage Site EMO and Security services.
    • Oversee injury management and incident reporting.
    • Facilitate monthly risk reviews and coordinate HS forums.
 
  • Communication & Culture
    • Promote positive site culture and health & safety expectations.
    • Facilitate the dissemination of health, safety, and environment information.
    • Coordinate HSE Committee and Leadership meetings.
 
  • Incident Management & Reporting
    • Oversee reporting and investigation of incidents.
    • Ensure incidents are documented in Enablon and WAS.
    • Prepare reports for Weekly and Monthly Reports.
 
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Advise on health and safety improvements.
    • Develop action plans for performance indicators.
    • Ensure correction of HS deficiencies and dispute resolution.
 
  • Support & Coordination
    • Assist EPCM and Contractors to achieve Project KPIs.
    • Lead development and implementation of Construction Risk Assessment Workshops (CRAWs).

Required Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications & Training:
  • A recognized HS qualification is required.
Job Specific:
  • Over 10 years of experience as an HS Manager (preferably in a FIFO/ on-site setting) in the construction industry.
  • Proven experience on iron ore sites and relevant safety systems.
  • Extensive technical and leadership experience in HS, including strategic planning and industry leadership in HS performance.
  • Strong knowledge of HS legislation and standards.
Interpersonal:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence contractor behavior.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, manage teams, and apply general management practices.
