ARCHITECT

Location: Stockholm, SE
Contract duration: initial 12 month contract - renewable
Start Date: Jan 2025
Project: Boden - 6 billion EUR green steel project site

We are on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. Our green steel production in Boden will be powered by one of the world’s largest green hydrogen plants, running on renewable electricity. Instead of emitting large amounts of CO?, as in traditional steelmaking processes, our primary emission will be water.

By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase.  The facility will impact, and shape, the surroundings as well as the perception of Boden, with the aim that it will be seen as a symbol for the much-needed green transition of heavy industry.

We are seeking an Architect with a minimum of 7 years of experience to take full ownership of the architectural scope for a cutting-edge industrial steel mill project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of architectural standards and guidelines, ensuring the project meets both functional and aesthetic goals. This role requires strong leadership in managing complex industrial architectural requirements and ensuring compliance with Swedish regulations and global standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Architectural Ownership
    • Act as the owner of the architectural concept and design guidelines, covering both exterior and interior design guidelines developed by our Architectural partners.
    • Develop, update, and maintain the Architectural Mill Standard (internal standard) to ensure consistency and quality.
  2. Design Development
    • Support EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) teams and consultants in developing internal layouts for buildings and Site Master Plans.
    • Collect and define user requirements and specifications for architectural disciplines.
    • Review EPCM and Consultants drawings, models and architectural documentation.
  3. Coordination and Communication
    • Serve as the main point of contact for all architectural design aspects across the site, ensuring seamless communication with all stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with EPCM teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate and review architectural designs from a site-wide perspective.
  4. Regulatory and Compliance Leadership
    • Ensure architectural designs adhere to local and international building codes, safety standards, and industry-specific regulations.
    • Provide coordination and support for permitting processes and ensure compliance with Swedish laws and regulations, including safety, accessibility, and work environment standards.
  5. Travel and Flexibility
    • Be willing to travel to the project site (Boden) and other EPCM offices as required for meetings, inspections, and project reviews.
  6. Skills and Expertise
    • Lead and contribute to the architectural scope of large and complex industrial projects, ensuring alignment with user needs and project goals.
    • Ensure designs balance functionality, operational efficiency, and aesthetic appeal.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in architectural design and project management, with proven experience in large-scale industrial projects such as Material & Mining Industry, Oil & Gas industry, Pulp & Paper Industry or Automotive and Battery Manufacturing Industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Swedish is a strong advantage.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and familiar with Swedish building codes and regulations.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.

Preferred Attributes
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, ensuring efficient communication and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
