Job summary:
Will assist in preparing and reviewing engineering and design drawings, change packages. calculations and overall technical evaluations.

Responsibilities:
- Perform design reviews for new installations of the subcontractor fire protection (FP) system.
- Facilitate design document reviews with Commonwealth of Virginia and local county staff.
- Conduct in-process walkdowns to ensure compliance with all Commonwealth and Louisa County codes.
- Support walkdowns conducted by Commonwealth of Virginia and Louisa County inspectors.
- Assist the North Anna Fire Protection System Engineer by managing the work backlog, monitoring the performance of installed FP systems, and supporting preventive and corrective maintenance activities, as well as troubleshooting emergent FP system performance issues.
- A minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Experience as a fire protection engineer in a major commercial, industrial, or nuclear facility, with a strong background in fire suppression and fire alarm system design.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Science; a BS or MS degree in fire protection engineering from an accredited university or college is preferred.
- Training and experience with relevant industry, state, and local fire code requirements.
- Experience in fire protection system design.
- Ability to complete reviews independently.
- Experience in the nuclear industry is desirable.
- Previous experience with Simplex fire protection systems is a plus.
- Fire protection system troubleshooting experience is also a plus.
- Possession of or eligibility for the Grade of Professional Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively in various teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.
The Construction Manager position leads and manages the execution of all assigned projects actively in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all projects are executed with Safety and Environmental Compliance as the primary focus of all personnel supporting their projects.
- Must maintain awareness of the status of activities within scheduled work windows and resolves conflicts as they arise.
- To accomplish this, the individual must maintain a physical presence on the job site(s) for at least 80% of the duration of the project(s).
- Responsible for performing site construction oversight inspections to monitor the field quality of work and materials provided by vendors and subcontractors.
- Inspects work quality and adherence to contract specifications to meet regulatory requirements, codes and company standards using visual observation, construction knowledge and application of skills.
- Ensure the Company is getting the products and services specified in the PO, and to ensure the products and services will perform as required.
- The Construction Manager must understand the Scope of Work (SOW) and ensure the Supplier executes the work according to the SOW, and all applicable Company’s Specifications and Standards. Any deviations from contract specifications or materials that are identified are to be reported to the Project Manager.
- Provide quality inspection reports/status updates to management upon request or as needed.
- Provide feedback to contractors, engineers, safety personnel and general management concerning issues or concerns being encountered.
- Know and understand Company’s Supplemental Terms & Conditions, including a general knowledge of the Safety and Environmental Compliance standards therein, that are expected to be executed successfully by the Supplier.
- Experience required with major power plants and equipment including but not limited to turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/instrumentation, operations, and other balance-of-plant systems.
- 7+ years of industry experience in the field of construction, engineering, and/or management with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in construction management.
- Ideally hydro station experience and mechanically/electrically experienced.
- Working knowledge of power generation and pollution control equipment.
- General knowledge of construction and operational field work practices, equipment utilization and work component scheduling.
- Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines.
- Demonstrated capability in handling multiple distinct projects at one time.
- Ability to work effectively with management and co-workers and to make effective decisions.
- Skilled in problem solving, attention to detail.
- Skilled in comparing construction specifications and material requirements to physical and material work products.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting manuals, technical instructions and drawings, with an ability to accurately prepare brief written reports.
