Role Overview
- Execute cross-project sourcing events within the steel and buildings category.
- Collaborate with and support fellow category managers in contracting.
- Conduct sourcing activities related to site-related contracts and other commitments.
- Work as part of an integrated cross-functional site team to define and execute sourcing strategies.
- Address procurement and commercial-related matters, identifying and implementing risk mitigation measures.
- Ensure a flexible approach while adhering to requirements and standards.
- Draft and issue Requests for Proposals (RFP) for various construction, services, equipment, materials, and more.
- Conduct negotiations with tenders.
- Evaluate proposals and make award recommendations for contract awards.
- Participate in reviewing and examining contracts for post-award negotiations.
- Provide support in interpreting contractual provisions for change requests, change orders, claims, and lessons learned.
- Support project site and procurement teams with contractual issues and correspondence.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a Category Manager for major projects.
- Extensive experience and proven track record in procurement of construction contractors within the steel/buildings category.
- Problem solver with a 'getting things done' mindset.
- Open, articulate, and transparent in both verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work with minimal support and engage directly in supplier conversations from the start.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for standardization and cost savings.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Certifications in procurement or supply chain management advantageous.
- Experience in procurement or supply chain management for major projects.
