Airswift has been tasked by one of our major oil & gas clients to seek a Project Engineer to work within their facilities located in Deer Park, TX for a long-term contract.
Within this position, you will be responsible for developing and executing small capital projects to deliver timely, economical, and safe completion. Projects are primarily maintenance replacements. In-house and external design/engineering support is available as needed.
Daily responsibilities:
- Act as the liaison with operations;
- Develop and manage project scopes and schedules;
- Estimate and control costs;
- Determine applicable client and regulatory policies and procedures and assure project compliance;
- Define and coordinate the work of engineering disciplines, both in-house and contract;
- Review and approve drawings including flow sheets, isos, layouts, etc. and vendor submittals;
- Prepare procedures, specifications, and bid packages;
- Specify, requisitions, and expedite materials and equipment;
- Coordinate construction and turn-over to operations; and
- Communicate the design and technical issues to technical and non-technical functions through reports, memos, design documents, and presentations in a manner that is concise, factual and effective. Trains, directs, and reviews the work of lower level technical staff.
- Recommend action to improve the quality of the engineering function and working on new engineering methods.
Previous education and experience required:
- Graduate engineer with 5+ years or more of project engineering experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in chemical or petrochemical plant
- Responsible for assuring that capital, operating and engineering costs are optimized, that all work is completed as scheduled and meets all environmental, health, safety, legal and code requirements.
- Must be capable of handling multiple assignments with project ranging in size from $50K to $6MM.
Airswift has been tasked by one of our major clients to search for Fixed Equipment Engineer to work on a long-term contract in Lake Charles, LA.
The successful candidate must stay abreast of assigned operating units’ plans, needs, and activities, while providing leadership and training to the areas’ maintenance staff. They will be expected to generate work scopes detailing the equipment’s fabrication or repair requirements with consideration for safety, environment, budget, inspection and schedule. In addition, they must be able to review and approve drawings and engineering calculations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide mechanical engineering support for all fixed equipment assets in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
- Exhibit basic understanding of FMEA methodology.
- Optimize inspection strategies and develop repair plans to improve long-term equipment reliability.
- Analyze inspection findings, assess remaining life of fixed assets, and provide recommendations for repairs and replacements using life cycle cost methodology.
- Ensure recommended repairs are consistent with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices.
- Support RCAs on bad actor equipment and high criticality equipment failures.
- Identify and act upon opportunities for improvement, track equipment history, and update maintenance procedures as necessary.
- This position requires consistent presence within process operating units.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills including an orientation to team development.
- Utilize SAP, Meridium, and other software tools to support planning, scheduling, and coordination of inspections and other mechanical activities
- Effectively communicate status updates to supervision and leadership, including development and communication of critical KPIs
- Demonstrate robust understanding of inspection compliance management
- Position will also require periodic scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, and minimum 3 years of experience in a petrochemical plant environment is required.
- Others with varying levels of experience in the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment may also be considered.
- Applicant must demonstrate familiarity with codes & standards applicable to Fixed Equipment mechanical integrity, including but not limited to ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 650, API 620, ASME 16.5, PCC-2, etc. (any related certifications considered a plus)
- Experience with mechanical design/analysis software considered a plus (e.g. INSPECT/Compress, Caesar II, etc.
- Understanding of risk-based work selection principles (RBI methodology, etc.) considered a plus.
- Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.
- A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
- May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
- Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
