Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Construction Manager II to join our team in Schkopau, Germany. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a minimum of 8 years of experience in managing construction projects within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries. You will be working on-site for a leading global EPCM company, playing a critical role in overseeing and ensuring the successful delivery of large-scale projects. This is a temp-to-perm position, offering the potential for long-term career growth with one of the industry’s top players.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Construction Management: Lead, plan, and execute all on-site construction activities, ensuring that projects are completed safely, within budget, and on schedule. You will oversee every aspect of the construction process, ensuring that all activities are aligned with project objectives and client expectations.

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Implement and enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations. You will ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and the highest quality guidelines, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.

  • Cost Management and Progress Monitoring: Actively manage and control project costs, ensuring that all financial targets are met. You will monitor project progress closely, ensuring that milestones are achieved and that any deviations are addressed promptly to keep the project on track.

  • Scheduling and Coordination: Oversee the development and management of project schedules, ensuring that all phases of construction are completed in a timely manner. You will coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure that all resources are effectively utilized and that the project timeline is maintained.

  • Pre-Construction Planning: Play a key role in the preparation of the Project Executive Plan, contributing to strategic planning efforts that will guide the successful execution of the project. You will also be involved in the preparation and organization of the construction site before the project begins.

  • Resource Management: Manage the allocation of personnel and resources, including setting up and dismantling the field organization. You will ensure that the right resources are in place to meet project demands and that all team members are effectively utilized.

  • Final Documentation and Compliance: Oversee the completion, verification, and submission of final project documentation. You will ensure that all records are accurate and complete, meeting both client and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will act as the construction supervisor, ensuring compliance with local building regulations (LBO).

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Technician certification or a degree in a relevant engineering or construction management field is required.

  • Professional Experience: At least 10 years of experience in construction management, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas plant construction. Your experience should demonstrate your ability to manage large, complex projects successfully.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in German with a minimum B2 level, and proficient in English. Your language skills will be critical in ensuring clear communication with local teams and international stakeholders.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in MS Office and experience with relevant project management and construction software. SCC certification is required, reflecting your commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
