Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek a Cost Engineer to join their team in Houston, TX for a long-term assignment with benefits.
The professional will support capital projects, directly involved in executing and managing assigned projects safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest standards of integrity and compliance. This will involve engineering design, procurement and construction of various sizes, types and complexity of small, medium to multi-billion-dollar mega size projects.


Key Responsibilities
 
  • Assist to establish and maintain Project Cost Control procedures.
  • Assist to establish and maintain work breakdown structure (WBS), and cost center numbers, to control and report costs at agreed levels.
  • Organize, monitor and control project costs and define project needs for cost control in accordance with contractual requirements, objectives, and Company procedures.
  • Proactively advise management when forecasted costs exceed the approved budget.
  • Prepare and monitor accruals and ensure that they are correctly controlled against budgets.
  • Prepare and maintain log with Contractor invoices and ensure that these are properly cost coded prior to approval by the responsible Senior Management.
  • Adjust forecast to reflect change orders and other variances.
  • Analyze cost data and forecast final cost per project by work done by Contractor.
  • Report project actual vs. baseline cost status as required.
  • Provide support to the teams within Projects in the challenge and analysis of commitments, expenditure, and forecasts.
  • Preparing and delivering budget, forecast and expenditure information to the Project Management
  • Highlighting in a timely manner, the areas of concern for potential cost overruns or under-spends, recommending actions or solutions where possible with the aim of maintaining expenditure within budget.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years cost engineering experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery projects or facilities, managing project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting; and financial reporting with a broad, multi-discipline knowledge and experience of cost engineering for Oil and Gas projects.
  • Certification from Professional Organization is highly recommended.
