About the role
We are currently seeking a Cultural Heritage Coordinator to support the Australian Renewable Energy Hub (AREH) Project's cultural heritage survey program.
This role will assist with the planning and execution of heritage surveys and heritage management activity critical to the continuity of this exciting renewables project's schedules, in accordance with legislative and Agreement obligations, and will be pivotal in developing and maintaining mutually respectful and strong relationships with Traditional Owners and their representatives to facility this work.
Position: Cultural Heritage Coordinator
Location: Perth, WA
Duration: 6 - 12 months casual contract
Experience and Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Archaeology, Land Management, Environmental Science or equivalent demonstrated experience in a remote field logistics, environmental or cultural heritage context including working with Traditional Owners, ideally in a Pilbara or greenfields project context.
- Understanding of relevant WA and Commonwealth Aboriginal heritage legislation and regulatory requirements.
- The desire and capacity to work in field with physical demands and challenging physical environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and complex environment, with a problem-solving mind-set.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, meaningful relationship building and engagement skills and the ability to influence for positive outcomes.
- Computer and reporting skills, preferably with exposure to planning, safety and compliance.
- Knowledge of GIS platforms and applications eg. ArcPRO and use of handheld navigation devices.
- Current manual driver license, ideally hold a 4WD certification and currency in remote first aid.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in related field.
Accountabilities
- Act as representatives on cultural heritage surveys and other heritage protection related activities and engagements.
- Support the scheduling, scoping and delivery of heritage surveys and related field activities.
- Plan and coordinate safe working practices of field based activitie
- Supervise and provide coaching for heritage field survey teams (contractors & Traditional Owners) in line with the company safety systems and processes and critical risk management.
- Maintaining cultural heritage compliance and fieldwork documentation, equipment, assets and fleet.
- Coordinate heritage consultant, heritage monitor and heritage survey representative engagement, logistics and onboarding
- Assist to coordinate cultural heritage protection and management requirements associated with site activities, including Traditional Owner participation
- Tracking and reviewing of progress against scope in consultation with heritage survey teams in the field, to ensure aligned understandings of outcomes during and at the conclusion of each field activity.
- Support review of survey deliverables (reports and GIS) against scope.
- Ensuring compliance with Heritage Agreements, commitments and legislation
