MAIN FUNCTIONS
Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by Contractors and sub-contractors to ensure that work is being executed in accordance with Company specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. Facilitates effective execution of discipline engineering and design routines that align with the team’s goals, objectives, and procedures. Assures accurate and timely communication among the team and other company Functions on discipline engineering activities, progress, and issues. In addition to technical ability, they should demonstrate sound communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
As a Permian Power Projects Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in planning, designing, and building the electrical infrastructure to meet our growing business demands. What you will do:
• Interface with cross functional teams to understand field development plans and area based electrical load demands.
• Monitor Drilling, Completions and Production schedules to ensure power delivery in advance of startups.
• Work with Power Systems Electrical Engineers to understand constraints in existing infrastructure.
• Confirm as-built data, mapping, device input into GIS, Power Models and SCADA system.
• Coordinate routing with Surface Land Teams, Landmen, Utilities and other Permian Operators.
• Work with external electrical service providers to ensure power availability and submit load requests • Submit material and labor requests for approved power systems upgrade projects.
• Manage cost, schedule, and budget for power systems projects.
• Ensure that internal and external design standards are met.
• Manage third party engineering contractors.
• Obtain permits for projects as required (e.g. road crossings, common use pole agreements, transmission crossings, etc.)
• Work with field teams during project execution phase.
• Support Operations & Maintenance with modifications and upgrades within their area of influence including improvements in reliability.
Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years experience as a project engineer supporting or designing facilities in the oil & gas, utility, mining, or manufacturing industries.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience at managing cost, schedule, and budget for capital projects.
• Experienced at managing third party engineering contractors.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
• Knowledge and experience in electrical power transmission and distribution systems.
• Experience with electrical modeling software (Milsoft WindMil, PSCAD, ETAP, and/or SKM Power Tools)
• Field based construction and/or operations experience
• Experience in Permian based oil & gas operations
