The Role:
The primary purpose of this position is to drive and deliver safe and sustainable electrical engineering designs for brownfield upgrade projects. Reporting to the Discipline Team Leader within the Portfolio team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing electrical designs, including detailed specifications for switchgear, MCCs, LV switchboards, UPS systems, emergency generation, and other interfacing electrical systems.
- Performing electrical calculations required for designs.
- Preparing design drawings, including SLDs, schematics, terminations, and general arrangements.
- Drafting ITPs, MTOs, datasheets, specifications, methodologies, procurement, and construction scopes of work.
- Conducting power systems modeling and analysis, including protection setting coordination and arc flash analysis.
- Reviewing vendor documentation and checking interfaces with existing infrastructure.
- Engaging with vendors and contractors as part of requisitioning activities.
- Supporting project design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, and safety workshops.
- Collaborating with peers, seniors, engineering disciplines, and the Workshare team to ensure the delivery of high-quality design outputs.
- Assisting with project documentation, including budgets, estimates, schedules, and reports.
- Ensuring compliance with technical standards and internal review processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (recognized in Australia).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in consultancy as a professional engineer, with at least 4 years in the oil and gas refinery or a closely related industry.
- Experience in detailed electrical design and execution across project phases.
- Hazardous Area Accreditation (highly desirable).
- Expertise in brownfield interfacing, electrical calculations, HV and LV systems, arc flash analysis, and protection systems design.
- Strong site experience, including construction and commissioning.
