Our locally own client in the mining industry is seeking to hire an experienced Finance Superintendent on permanent basis and to be based out its mine site (FIFO). The Superintendent will be accountable for the financial and administrative deliverables of Client and provide timely and accurate reports and information to the Business Manager where required and when requested. The Superintendent is directly accountable for the financial accuracy of all prepared reports and financial business process improvement.

Key roles and responsibilities include: 

Accountabilities
  • Strategic Financial Management
  • Play a key role in the financial aspects of key contracts.
  • Manage the cash flow of the business to ensure optimal liquidity.
  • Manage the banking facilities available including debtor finance, letter of credit, bank guarantee facility and debt agreement.
  • Budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Implement process improvements for finance function.
  • Develop a sound internal control environment.

  • Month end reporting

  • Development and growth of Company awareness and adoption of a zero-tolerance culture in relation to WHS.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience required:

Person Specification – Commercial
It is expected the Superintendent will have the following commercial competency-based skills:
  • A minimum 10 years’ experience in a financial management position, reporting directly to senior management.
  • A minimum 10 years’ experience working in a contracting environment within mining and metals, civil, construction or heavy industrial industries.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in commercial business dealings within a contracting environment within mining and metals, civil, construction or heavy industrial industries.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of business management, including the monitoring of financial functions, including:
    • Profitability of the business
    • Profitability of contracts
    • Contract management
    • Gross margin delivery
    • Debt management
    • Creditor payments
    • Budgeting
    • Capital expenditure
    • Banking and lending regulations
    • Asset management
• Have sound commercial experience in:
    • Financial management reporting
    • Tendering
    • Estimating
• Strong negotiating and presentation skills.
• Proven experience leading and managing operational personnel.
• Ability to conduct business dealings at both strategic and operational levels.

Person Specification – Technical
It is expected the Superintendent will have the following technical attributes:
  • Qualifications in accounting or commerce
  • Working knowledge and training in financial management and reporting.
  • Experience in day-to-day use of financial management systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
