Airswift has been tasked by one of our major chemical clients to seek for an I&E Designer to join them on a long-term contract in La Porte, TX.

Overall summary:

  • Independently, performs layout and design work from the basic data supplied.
  • Apply advanced techniques in CAD and standard design applications utilizing this equipment.
  • Ability to plan, organize and schedule own work with only limited supervision.
  • Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by supervision, including work at higher or lower levels as needed.
  • Candidate shall, work with or without an engineer as needed, to create/design electrical issue for construction drawing package from company provided scope.
Job Responsibilities:
General Functions
  • Responsible for design/drafting on projects of moderate or large size and complexity with no assistance required. 3D experience is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of design/drafting concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Be able to create scaled and non-scaled plan drawings, have knowledge of revision concepts, title block information, and excellent drafting presentation.
  • Responsible for coordination with other disciplines to gather and distribute required data.
  • May review and check drafting deliverables to ensure final product is accurate and of high quality.
  • Capable of providing complex design solutions on projects.
  • Be able to estimate projects, update Task Registers, update and write project status reports.
Electrical Specific Functions:
  • Size conduit and wire and shall have knowledge of the different type voltages.
  • Shall be able to create a complete construction package from a scope of work and one line diagrams and vendor drawings.
  • Knowledge should include but is not limited to electrical calculations to include lighting, power and grounding, size, route and support cable tray.
  • Be able to create one-line diagrams and elementary diagrams.
  • Be able to select standard installation details, make field walk down, and create a scope of work document.
  • Work with electrical engineers to develop electrical design deliverables such as electrical site plans, conduit plans, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, motor schematics, PLC layout / termination drawings, wire schedules, lighting panel schedules, electrical equipment installation details, bill of materials, etc.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining electrical CAD standards and library drawings for the Company and assure that the proper design standards are followed on all project drawings.
  • Coordinate with other designer disciplines to coordinate drawing development and maintain standards and consistency across project teams.
  • Responsible for knowing client's project standards and making sure the standards are being followed by the electrical design team
  • Attend project meetings internally and with the client as requested by the PE/PM
Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience using AutoCAD to develop electrical drawings.
  • Relevant experience in producing drawings including P&ID, electrical equipment layouts, schematics, grounding plans, cable tray and conduit plans, wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, and termination drawings.
  • Experienced in developing a Bill of Materials from electrical drawings.
  • Able to perform quality work within deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work alone and complete the project from start to finish.
  • Strong onsite plant experience
