The Company

A global operator of energy and resources. As a result of continued improvement, they are looking for a Infrastructure Services Engineer to assist with the delivery of Telecommunications and Network infrastructure focused projects in this region.

 

The Role

You will help develop solutions to business and related technology problems. You will work closely with business partners to determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements and formats. This includes working with other IT experts to address networking and hardware needs, then devise and document a general system design based on the anticipated requirements. You will then maintain the system protocols by writing and updating the procedures.

This is a Melbourne based role with site visits (Longford and other locations) on a 12-months contract.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for all aspects of network, compute, and data/voice infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues across office, field, and manufacturing locations.
  • Collaborate with service providers and global support teams, including MSPs, to ensure seamless execution.
  • Conduct network monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to end-to-end project delivery, focusing on localized processes for procurement, staging, installation, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business contacts, ensuring timely problem resolution and facilitating system change management.
  • Coordinate both on-site and remote support, providing after-hours assistance on a rotational basis.
  • Operate within a supportive environment that emphasizes safety and security.
  • Adhere to all applicable corporate IT processes and procedures.
  • Provide coordinated support for on-site and remote locations as necessary.
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions, from ideation, cost estimation, and requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Actively seek and identify improvement opportunities to drive operational excellence.
  • Travel as needed to support operational and project requirements.
  • Develop business solutions and provide support for the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Work with physical IT infrastructure within server rooms and data centres.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Information Technology, with a focus on networks and associated infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with deployment of the latest network technologies such as SD WAN, Zero Trust, SDP.
  • Experience in physical infrastructure support, problem diagnosis, equipment handling, and knowledge of facility and business considerations.
  • Technical expertise in storage and server hardware, telecommunication services, TCP/IP networking, and ServiceNow tools.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting issues related to power, cooling, and backup systems.
  • Previous or related experience working with radio communications i.e., Microwave is highly regarded.
  • Hands-on experience in areas such as network/server administration, virtualization, and cloud computing in server rooms and data centres, is highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather information, evaluate and process complex or technical information.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently while adhering to company processes and procedures.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Previous experience in large or multinational companies, with a focus on virtual teams, planning, process adherence, and cultural awareness.
  • Ability to apply design principles to create efficient and reliable cabling solutions across various environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Proficiency in planning, coordination, multitasking, and self-motivation with minimal direction.
  • Relevant network and service management certifications would be highly regarded.

 

Qualifications required

A tertiary qualification or equivalent is preferred.
