Their Reading-based team plays a key role in advancing projects in wind, solar, hydrogen, and energy storage. They’re seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead impactful projects and deliver cutting-edge solutions for industry-leading clients. You’ll work on some of the world’s most complex and impactful projects across sectors like oil & gas, renewable energy, chemicals, and more & there is flexibility to transition between teams and contribute to repeat business.

Responsibilities/Work Scope:
  • Provide technical solutions for operational engineering challenges.
  • Evaluate manufacturers for technical competence and compliance.
  • Conduct technical studies and prepare reports for management and technical teams.
  • Review engineering proposals for large projects.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation (procedures, standards, specifications).
  • Lead HAZOP/SIL assignments; knowledgeable in IEC 61511.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, operations, and other internal teams.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and authorities.
Qualifications:
  • BSc in Electrical/Instrumentation or relevant engineering field.
  • Extensive experience in instrumentation/control engineering (oil, gas, petrochemical).
  • Experience in FEED projects and plant construction/commissioning.
  • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature).
  • Familiarity with boiler, heater, and furnace control.
  • Knowledge of materials selection and electrical systems for instrumentation.
  • Expertise in national/international standards (ISA, ANSI, ASME, API, IEC).
  • Experience with DCS/ESD systems, Foundation Fieldbus, and vendor PCS/FAT.
  • Proficient in office and technical software.
