Lead Technical Electrical Engineer 
We’re looking for a Lead Technical Electrical Engineer to join our Perth team.
As a Lead Technical Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible to drive and deliver safe and sustainable ‘fit for purpose’ electrical engineering services for the Resources Portfolio group. You may be working on multiple projects dependent on their size across various Resource clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver discipline specific engineering services that meet the client’s and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and/or manage discipline specific engineering services such as: 
    • Prepare/assist and as required oversee the production of engineering calculations, drawings and documentation;
    • Ensure all deliverables are checked in accordance with client's checking procedures;
    • Attend site visits as required;
    • Facilitate and/or contribute to discipline Safety in Design risk assessment for each project;
    • Participate in project reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs and safety in design workshops;
    • Initiate, manage and supervise, engineering assignments with the head office team and Workshare team.
  • Prepare engineering estimates for the electrical discipline in response to requests for quotation:
    • Scope engineering requirement;
    • Detail methodologies and/or engineering tasks in scope and those out of scope;
    • Clarify and detail assumptions, exclusions, rely upon information and deliverables list;
    • Input into the schedule incorporating a realistic delivery sequence for the discipline with consideration to project milestones; input from other disciplines and receival of rely on information; and
    • Ascertaining resources required based on availability.
  • In a project lead capacity:
    • Manage sequence of engineering tasks at a high level to ensure deliver according to project schedules (including activities by third party contractors).
    • Primary interface with customer for discipline-specific engineering issues.
    • Ensure technical integrity of the discipline’s deliverables through the implementation of checking and design review activities.
    • Provide technical direction, control and supervision for engineering and design on the project.
    • Deliver the discipline’s design deliverables within schedule and budget.
    • Maintain discipline task and deliverables lists for the project.
    • Manage quality and consistency within the discipline.
    • Coordinate change control and technical query process within the discipline.
    • Manage discipline resources assigned to the project.
    • Report progress of discipline deliverables.
    • Resolve discipline technical issues.
    • Maintain discipline files and follow the client's processes.
    • Coordinate design with other disciplines and squad checking deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with the project stakeholders including the Discipline Team Lead, Workshare team, Client and Project Engineer/Manager on design progress, budget, technical matters, quality, and resource planning.
  • Establish relationship and manage packages and/or interfacing with installation contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, site team and client.
  • Undertake and/or support engineering design and technical verification of discipline project deliverables by others.
  • Proactively seek an understanding of the safety hazards and risks associated with the asset lifecycle of the designed product, plant or structure; be responsible for action and close out where relevant.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • An Australian recognised 4 year Bachelor qualification in Electrical and or Power Engineering.
  • Extensive years of experience on resource projects or similar and relevant years of experience working on Australian projects.
  • Experience across all phases of engineering projects from order of magnitude, conceptual, feasibility through to detailed design and execution and full understanding of deliverables required.
  • Must understand and uphold sustainable engineering through asset lifecycle.
  • Must have ability to work across multiple projects.
  • Strong technical experience in:
    • Brownfield interfaces;
    • HV and LV systems;
    • AC and DC systems;
    • Power distribution;
    • Electrical calculations required for design;
    • Power system studies (inc. load flow, fault level voltage and motor starting analysis) and protection coordination;
    • Earthing, arc flash and lightning studies and design;
    • Creation of design drawings such as SLDs, schematics, terminations, schedules, layouts;
    • Site experience such as scoping solutions, condition assessments, construction and commissioning;
    • Very good understanding of constructability, maintainability and operability aspects;
    • Equipment inspections, witnessing FATs, SATs;
    • Preparing ITPs, MTOs, datasheets, specifications, construction methodologies, philosophy documents, procurement and construction scope of works;
    • Input into electrical estimates and execution schedules for FID; and
    • Control system interfacing and instrumentation Shutdown planning.
  • Highly effective organisational skills is a must including the ability to plan, set goals, prioritise, set accountabilities, manage schedule and budget. 
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills is a must including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups and effective technical document writing and grammar skills.
