Airswift is working with one of our major Mining clients to find a Natural Resource Management Project Manager to join their team in Kitimat, BC.
 
 
Context
  • Manage the delivery of specific projects under Kitimat Sustaining Capital portfolio safely, on time and on budget.
Primary Purpose
  • In the Project Manager role, you are responsible to manage the safe delivery of the project on time and on budget through its lifecycle. This role will ensure effective and efficient project delivery in accordance with project management procedures to deliver the project as per company's business requirements.
Accountabilities
The Project Manager you will manage the projects portfolio through its lifecycle, including:
  • The safe delivery of the project, schedule, budget, and quality through its lifecycle.
  • Ensures projects meets the minimum viable and practical solution to meet the business needs.
  • Updates the RACI through the lifecycle of the project through its different stages and gets the approval from the different stakeholders relevant to the project at the start of each stage Gate.
  • Manage project costs and schedule against approved baselines and monthly reforecasts.
  • Develop project execution strategies to successfully deliver the project within the project constraints.
  • Coordinate all design reviews, approvals, instructions etc.
  • Facilitates engineering, construction, commissioning, close out and handover phases.
  • Communication and Stakeholders management.
  • Receiving and issuing all Notices and Documents under the Contract.
  • Receive, validate, and communicate all progress updates (on a daily basis).
  • Organizes all project meetings & workshops.
  • Prepare all Contract changes, including PCN’s for review and approval of the Project Coordinator and Manager Engineering & Projects.
  • Review & approve Contractor’s schedule. Contractor schedules are to be approved to allow any variation to be approved.
  • Instructs and assesses all variations/Change Orders, Extensions of Time.
  • Receives, assesses and processes claims and payments.
  • Formally delegates tasks to the Support Team.
  • Develops/process project progress reporting.
  • Prepares detailed estimates as part of PIC/BUIC approval process through the lifecycle of the project.
  • Prepare PIC, BUIC and PGIC documentation to be reviewed by the Project Coordinator and Manager Engineering & Projects for review prior committees’ approval.
  • Provide support during PIC/BUIC committees’ approval.
  • Works with the Project Analyst to produce the cost file from the estimate and use it to track the project.
  • Files relevant information using project folders as per business requirements. Files are not to be kept in personal drives.
  • Conducts safety interactions.
  • Allocates work time to the proper projects on a weekly basis and not Cost Centre.
  • Reviews and validates Construction Supervisors time is properly allocated to the projects.
  • Completes a minimum of 10% field-based activities.
  • Completes #4 CRM’s (per month) for resident Project Managers or #2 CRM’s (for the week when on site) for hybrid Project Managers.
  • Reviews and approved the Project Execution Plan.
  • Facilitates Project Execution Kick-Off Meeting. Meeting to be documented. Project Manager to take Minutes of Meeting (MoM) both for kickoff and weekly progress meetings.
  • Manage the delivery of IFC’s.
  • Facilitate and manage Engineering Design & Operability Reviews.
  • Facilitate Constructability Reviews.
  • Manage and update Project Risk Registers.
  • Organises L2RA’s and ensures it is kept updated through the execution phase in collaboration with the Construction Supervisor.
  • Work with the procurement and contract team to issue Procurement and Contract Packages. Project Managers to ensure Time & Material contracts are only used by exemption with Measurable Quantities as the preferred option.
  • Completed bid reviews for Procurement and Construction packages.
  • Ensure construction methodologies are in place and are approved by the relevant stakeholders (Project Manager, HSE, Construction Supervisor).
  • Ensure workpacks are developed, approved and a construction readiness meeting is formally organised and minuted with the construction team to ensure the construction team understand the project and interfaces.
  • Facilitate pre-mobilisation meeting with the construction team to go through the readiness plan and completes and formalises a readiness checklist.
  • Organise design and constructability reviews.
  • Organise progress meetings with the contractors and register minutes of meeting.
  • Organise operability and maintenance reviews.
  • Organise and conduct HAZOP'S and FMECA's.
  • Organise and facilitates Project Risk Assessments and reviews through the project lifecycle.
  • Review, process and approve Non-Conformances NCR's (including consulting with Designer).
  • Review, process and approve RFI's & TQ's (including consulting with Designer).
  • Review MDR's/Turnover Package and Red-Mark-up drawings.
  • Issue practical and final completion certificate.
  • Organize Commissioning Vendors support.
  • Produce and process commissioning plan and socialise with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure training packages are in place and socialised with area superintendents, operations, and maintenance personnel.
  • Assist areas owners/planner with information regarding Materials Justifications and Functional Locations, spares BOM's.
  • Produce handover packages to Operations.
  • Receiving and issue and process Notices/Directions to the contractor under the Contract.
  • Issue Project Change Management (PCN’s) requests to the Project Coordinator and Manager Engineering & Projects for review prior approval submission.
  • Updates the PCN global register.
  • Completes project reports.
  • Facilitates approval to allow contractors to conduct works including clearing and environmental approvals.
  • Participate in monthly cost and schedule reviews.
  • Participates weekly drumbeats if project included in the ten big spender list.
  • Prepares monthly reports.
  • Review and approves Contractor’s documentation pre-mobilisation, Work Methodologies, Safety, Environmental and Quality management plans, Schedules among other documentation.
  • Review, approves and process the design of temporary works.
  • Work with the Contracts and Procurement team to ensure contracts are in place timely.
