Pipeline Start-Up Lead - EACOP Project
Location: Tanzania & Uganda (office and multiple site locations)
Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off (12-hour shifts)
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Pipeline Start-Up Lead to oversee the safe and effective start-up of their 1,445 km oil export pipeline and associated facilities. This role will report to the Operations Lead during the project phase and the Field Manager in Tanzania or Uganda during the start-up phase. This position requires high mobility across East Africa and offers the unique opportunity to lead start-up efforts for one of the region’s most ambitious energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Lead start-up activities for pipeline and facilities, ensuring compliance with operating standards and project documentation.
- Commissioning Support: Act as the Operating Authority during commissioning in collaboration with EACOP’s commissioning team and local site authorities.
- Procedural Development: Update operating manuals, develop start-up procedures, and prepare start-up documentation (including RFSU Certificates).
- Risk Management: Ensure start-up risk assessments are completed, and all safety protocols are strictly followed.
- System Handover: Supervise formal handover of systems from Project to Field Operations.
- Performance Monitoring: Oversee performance testing and ramp-up of crude oil export/transport systems to ensure operational readiness.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, Industrial, Mechanical).
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years in oil and gas, including experience in project start-ups, commissioning, or site operations.
- Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills; highly organized with critical and analytical thinking; proficient in English.
- Preferred Experience: Knowledge of petroleum facility operations, with previous roles as a superintendent or senior operations supervisor highly desirable.
