Role Purpose:
• The Principal Structural Engineer utilizes technical expertise to develop and deliver safe and quality solutions with minimal guidance.
• The Principal Structural Engineer works well and effectively with project stakeholders, interdiscipline leads and engineering team to achieve project objective and ensure quality- in engineering delivery in a timely manner.
• You ensure successful resolution of complex technical issues directly and indirectly related to structural and structural interfaces.
• You engage with peers and expert within Kuala Lumpur execution centre and across international centers to collaborate, promote knowledge sharing, reach alignment and develop or expand engineering methodologies, internal standards, guidelines and best practices for continuous improvement.
Working experiences:
• Minimum 15 years working experience in structural engineering design and analysis calculation for strength, buckling, fatigue of steel structures.
• Experience in FPSO topsides module structures concept development, framing, weight estimation, MTO, detailed design and construction support.
• Familiar with AISC Specification 1989 Edition, AISC 360-16-ASD, API RP2A-WSD and AWS D1.1M.
• Familiar with ABS Rules on Floating Production Installation
• Familiar with ABS and DNV guides on fatigue assessment and plate buckling calculations.
• Familiar with DNV SESAM GeniE and Femap NASTRAN software or equivalent.
• Experience in basic structural vibrations and troubleshooting.
• Experience in FPSO flare tower and vent stack design will be an added advantage.
• Experience in ISO19902 and AISC 360-16-LRFD offshore structures design will be an added advantage.
• Experience in structural nonlinear analysis will be an added advantage.
• Experience in deterministic structural fire analysis using FAHTS and USFOS software will be an added advantage.
• Experience in structural stainless steel and cold formed steel code check on secondary and miscellaneous structures will be an added advantage.
Job requirement:
• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Civil/ Structural/ Mechanical Engineering.
• Expert in structural analysis, calculations and code check.
• Expert in finite element analysis, FEA result interpretation and post-processing.
• Demonstrate depth and breadth of technical knowledge to ensure technical solutions account for constructability as well as schedule and budgetary constraints.
• Proactively provide Discipline Manager and Discipline Lead with updates regarding activity status, highlight concerns as they arise, and provide guidance to support Discipline Lead to stay within the allocated budget.
• Challenge technical solutions to ensure all options have been considered and promote best approach.
• Collaborate with Discipline Lead to propose or optimize methodology within the framework of project requirements.Ensure activities are completed in compliance with applicable policies, client requirements, codes, standards, regulations and industry practices.
• Participate in Client meetings to influence decision making and resolve complex technical issues
