Our client, a midstream company, is seeking a Project Engineer to work a 1-year contract in Calgary, AB.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES

  • Accountable for project delivery to meet needs and opportunities generated by Business Development including scope and design development, option evaluation, pre-FEED, FEED, and execution (detailed design and construction) as per Stage-Gate Project Delivery process.
  • a safety leader, and proactively manage risk and safety performance on the project.
  • skills, and management experience required to lead and enable team members to contribute effectively within the project environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, execute, control, and use processes, procedures, and best practices to deliver the highest value projects.
  • Ability to adapt processes to be fit-for-purpose, to listen and communicate information to the team and project stakeholders, and to propose and provide solutions.
  • Ensure adequate focus on Front End Loading and early engagement of project contributors and stakeholders.
  • Manage external service providers such as Engineering, Procurement and Construction to develop project deliverables and deliver the project.
  • Ability to align, motivate, and inspire the team to act in harmony and to engage and collaborate with functional stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate needs to be well-organized, energetic, and service-oriented with the following qualifications:

  • Engineering degree from an accredited university and registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.
  • Minimum 10 years of project engineering &/or project management experience:
  • Experience in successfully executing brownfield and/or greenfield projects.
  • visionary and strategic thinking and consider unfamiliar approaches and solutions openly. Demonstrate creativity, adopt new ideas, and encourage innovation.
  • business and financial acumen and an understanding of the value delivered by the Project.
  • and proactively manage issues and conflicts. Influence others through reason, win-win negotiations, and positive outcomes. Bring the best out of the individuals, support positive communications across the project team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, influence decision making and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Creative in developing, identifying, and evaluating alternate solutions to optimize business opportunities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate visible, engaged, and influential leadership at the job sites (head office and field).
  • Demonstrated diligence and transparency in timely project reporting.
  • Monitor the project and act to correct deviations and changes as they arise.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to site as required by the project.

 

PRE-REQUISITE TRAINING

  • Standard First Aid
  • H2S Alive (required for sour facility projects, if applicable)
