We’re looking for a Project Team Lead - Electrical to join our Kwinana team.

As a Project Team Lead - Electrical, you will be responsible for coordination of project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestones in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by our client. Supervise project personnel through subordinate leaders. You will bridge the technical gap between the Project Manager and Engineers. Often function as assistant project manager with an engineering background. You will ascertain that engineering work is done according to plan by helping with design interpretation. Review bill of materials/project schedules/forecasts for accuracy. This role would apply to those with an engineering background.

What you’ll do
  • Demonstrates full commitment to all health and safety matters and provides safety leadership to project team, satisfies all requirements of project safety compliance including Safety by Design, Constructability and Maintainability, and has participated in Constructability, Operability and Maintainability Workshops.
  • Defines and selects team required to deliver scope of work and effectively leads project team comprised of multidiscipline/ multilocation members.
  • Sets clear objectives for the project team including scope, schedule, productivity and budget targets while overseeing, motivating and monitoring the performance of the team, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps.
  • Implements communication tools and process to ensure all team members are informed about project status and key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build support for ideas, presenting alternatives and recommendations persuasively and has attention to detail.
  • Applies knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan and ensures the methodologies, processes, tools and systems are used throughout the project and compliance requirements are met/satisfied.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EPC project delivery workflow and coordination and also has a basic exposure and understanding of procurement/subcontracting and on-site construction support.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of customer contract to the oversight and management of the project and has a strong understanding and application of business drivers, financial reporting standards.
  • Ensures design team is aware and complying with customer Basis of Design and applicable codes and regulations and ensures project design deliverables and design quantities are tracked and analysed.
  • Understands project cost buildup including gross margin, tracks cost and schedule and uses analytical skill to forecast trends and ensures proper change control processes are understood and used by the project team.
  • Translates contract requirements for project scope into scope of services and deliverables.
  • Ensures project schedules and resource plans are developed and utilized in managing the project tasks along with managing execution, coordination, and implementation of regular reviews/controls to track project progress.
  • Develops action plans to address project tasks and issues and has a good understanding of Project Control Reports and identified problem areas.
  • Experienced in successful multi-office workshare execution while promoting Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives for project.
  • Effectively communicates and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management while clearly communicating project requirements, deliverables and expectations with the project team.
  • As technical customer interface, pro-actively addresses technical coordination issues.
  • Creates an environment for open communication and collaboration keeping all stakeholders informed of project status and resolves issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Manages and nurtures customer and stakeholder relationship based on established expectation and communication protocols as well as identifies and understands the customer’s key drivers (KPIs).
  • Develops a relationship of trust and respect with ability to discuss project progress, challenges and issues in a transparent manner and nurtures relationships with external vendors and suppliers, communicating key project drivers.
  • Identifies potential risks or new risks as the project progresses and effectively develops risk mitigation, contingency and resolution plans.
  • Follow risk management procedures, keeps detailed project risk register that stays current and is tracked & communicated on a regular basis (at least monthly) and utilizes Risk Register items as the basis for any project contingency budget.
What you’ll have
  • University degree or equivalent in engineering or equivalent experience with professional registration in local jurisdiction.
  • Professional registration in local jurisdiction; Certified Project Management Professional by a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
  • Extensive years of engineering experience, including relevant supervisory, project management and/or technical experience; Workshare experience; E, EP project experience.
  • EPCM, EPC including site assignments; Multi-Cultural / Multi-National environments.
  • Makes independent decisions and sets priorities related to complex situations based on established guidelines, taking in to account the cost and schedule impact to the project.
  • Works with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance. Influence over duties. Work is assigned only in terms of broad objectives to be accomplished, and is reviewed for policy, soundness of approach and general effectiveness. Work is reviewed to ensure conformity with project, policy and for coordination of other departments.
  • Assigns project work and gives technical guidance to people assigned to work on their projects.  Reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.  May have direct reports and authority for performance evaluations impacting pay. May make recommendations concerning selection, training, rating and discipline of people.
  • Advanced understanding Management and Knowledge Systems, processes and tools.  Able to assist others and troubleshoot issues. Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.  Can organize information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.
  • Competent in Microsoft Access and Visio.
