Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of scientists and engineers working on new product development and innovation for nonwoven materials used in hygiene, filtration, building materials, and other applications.
- Oversee R&D projects from concept to commercialization, including budgeting, resource allocation, timeline management, and coordinating with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, marketing, sales, and supply chain.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for new products, processes, and partnerships.
- Lead efforts in research, testing, prototyping, and scaling up production of new nonwoven materials, fabrics, and products.
- Partner with marketing and sales teams to ensure R&D initiatives are aligned with business goals, customer needs, and target applications.
- Foster an innovative environment and encourage creativity, collaboration, and knowledge sharing amongst R&D team members.
- Monitor industry developments, IP, and technological advances to avoid infringement and identify potential licensing opportunities.
Requirements:
- Ideally Msc or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5-10 years experience in R&D management role in nonwovens, engineered fabrics, or related industry.
- Expertise in nonwoven manufacturing processes, including spunmelt/spunbond, meltblown, and composite technologies.
- Knowledge of nonwoven applications in hygiene products, air and liquid filtration media, construction materials, geotextiles, and technical textiles.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of polymer chemistry, fiber science, nonwoven fabrics, and product testing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. Multidisciplinary collaboration experience.
- Business acumen with track record of bringing innovative products to market.
- German and English language fluency.
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing facilities, partner sites, and industry conferences and events.
