Senior Electrical Engineer

Airswift has been tasked by one of our major clients to find a R&D Lab Technician to work a 1-year contract with possible extension in Aurora, NC. 

This Laboratory Technician position is responsible for sample retrieving in the field, preparation of sampling, and reporting. In addition, with this being a start-up plant, the lab tech will be responsible for assisting in creation of the processes, SOPs and development of the lab.

This is a 12-hour shift rotating shift. Airswift will be happy to discuss further the rotation schedule for this opportunity. 

Responsibilities:

• Perform lab activities, such as setting up lab equipment and preparing chemical solutions.
• Conduct tests, interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present conclusions.
• Must document every test results carefully. During the research and testing phases, need to accurately record all variables, such as chemical type, amount, compound components, chemical temperature and test duration.
• Must also adhere to safety standards during laboratory testing, such as wearing protective clothing and taking additional precautions as needed.
• Improve current formulations of products when needed.
• Calibration of equipment

• Ability to follow chemistry testing techniques

• Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing and maintaining PPE
• A desire to work with team members to improve processes and product quality

Requirements:

• Chemistry degree is preferred or a related technical degree.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of testing experience within chemical lab setting.
• Must have experience handling hazardous material. 
• Must have industrial experience. This is an industrial site & will need to know how to adopt to the environment. 

• Providing HSE leadership to ensure the safety of employees and contractors while protecting the environment.
• Delivering project management activities: early studies, engineering, operational readiness, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations.
• Set and maintain project budgets and schedules to meet internal and external commitments.
• Engage and manage engineering service providers to ensure project objectives are met.
• Prepare, review, and issue tender documentation.
• Source, procure, and engage suppliers and specialized subcontractors.
• Create and maintain project documentation in the different phases to meet Kitimat and Atlantic operations requirements.
• Engage and manage area stakeholders to ensure alignment and the best solution is selected and implemented to meet the business requirements.
• Preparing presentations to investment committee and participating in investment meetings.
• Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote teamwork, excellence, and team engagement.
• Supporting a culture of continuous improvement in project management and control.

• University diploma in Engineering or a Technical college degree in a relevant field.
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
• An Engineer-In-Training with related experience can be considered.
• Project management training (PMP or master in project management) is a definitive asset.
• At least 15 + years of experience in construction/industrial environment. 
• A proven track record of site management with safety, customer service, and financial responsibilities.
• Sound understanding of project controls and project reporting requirements.
• Managed 5M to 20M+ million-dollar multi-discipline projects.
• Experience in managing and delivering capital brownfield projects from concept to close-out.
• Proven commercial acumen.
• Knowledge of the organization’s policies and standard practices.
• Exposure to the Company project management framework is advantageous.

• Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week.
• The position can be remote with frequent travel required to effectively manage the project.

• Conduct an evaluation of the 33KV line, ensuring power supply to essential devices such as pumping stations and dewatering units, with a specific focus on LV systems (no HV reticulation).
• Undertake both basic and detailed design phases for the project.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of the design.
• Possess a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and standards.
• Ensure compliance with Engineers Australia requirements.
• Utilize a design engineering background, with a preference for those with experience in mining non-process infrastructure.
• Demonstrate expertise in onshore oil and gas projects (consideration will be given).
• Exhibit high energy and motivation, with a proactive approach to work.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and effective communication skills.

• Hold a recognized Electrical Engineering Degree by Engineers Australia.
• Possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
• Background in design engineering (not project engineer/site-based, construction/commissioning).
• Expertise in low voltage (LV) is essential.
• Preferred experience in mining non-process infrastructure; consideration will be given to onshore oil and gas projects.
• High energy and driven individuals are desired for this role.
• Must be able to work independently, showing initiative and strong communication skills.
