Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek a Senior Geologist, to work in their facilities located in Aberdeen, UK.
 
  • Duration: 1 year contract
  • Schedule: 5 days/week, hybrid
  • Contract: PAYE
  • Required: UK permit to work/citizenship

Summary
The Senior Geologist is responsible for constructing and maintaining static models for the fields and discoveries within their assigned asset, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Collaborates with multidisciplinary sub-surface teams to identify new drilling opportunities and assess Well Workovers/Interventions for production enhancement. Additionally, plans wells, evaluates well results, and oversees geological studies conducted by third-party contractors, and contributes to the company's change process and leads development project activities when required.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Construct and maintain static models for the fields and discoveries in their assigned asset
  • Work with the other members of the multi-disciplinary sub-surface team assigned to the asset to identify new drilling opportunities as well as production adding Well Workovers/Interventions opportunities
  • Plan wells and monitor and evaluation of well results
  • Manage geological studies carried out by 3rd party contractors and vendors
  • Support the Company’s process of change and continual improvement
  • Lead and Coordinate Development Project Front End activities (Appraise to Define) when required
  • Act as Peer Reviewer when required
  • Prepare seismically generated inputs for reservoir engineering simulation and plume modelling, and advise clients on the best choice of processing parameters to apply
  • Provide high-quality geological input for development projects and ongoing field operations
  • Generate 3D geocellular models to support field development and exploration efforts
  • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure comprehensive collaboration
  • Generate drilling prospects, plan wells, and monitor and evaluate well results
  • Maintain a prioritized inventory of development opportunities for the field
  • Collaborate with other function groups to prepare business cases for opportunities, outlining benefits, costs, and risks
  • Write concise reports for all studies and maintain organized records of input and interpreted data
  • Conduct data room evaluations for potential farm-in opportunities
  • Perform additional duties within the scope of expertise and status as needed to support business objectives
  • Supervise SSBoD projects for well abandonment (only for Well Abandonment Geology vacancies)
  • Generate plumbing diagrams for well abandonment (only for Well Abandonment Geology vacancies)
  • Collaborate with Drilling and Decommissioning team to identify well abandonment risks and opportunities.
  • Propose cap rocks for plugging and revise / update pressure plots (only for Well Abandonment Geology vacancies)

Professional Skills and Experiences
  • Excellent technical background in petroleum geology
  • Previous relevant industry experience
  • Ability to build and use 3D geological models
  • Involvement in project drilling operations as well as Well Workover/Innervation operations.
  • Ability to embrace change and continual improvement
  • Experience in SSBoD for well abandonment / decommissioning (only for Well Abandonment Geology vacancies)

Educational Qualification and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or related field I&D Disclaimer
