We are currently a Senior / Principal Mechanical Rolling Stock Engineer to work for a global rail OEM. You will be responsible for providing effective engineering solutions to emerging fleet issues and the introduction of new equipment. Hands-on experience in Mechanical / structural design and analysis is paramount.
Location- Brisbane or Sydney
Duration- Permanent
Salary- $160,000 - $180,000 + Super
Responsibilities
- Providing specialist engineering guidance and expertise related to the rolling stock / locomotive discipline
- Design and checking/review of rail components and systems ensuring they conform to required standards – including engineering specifications, mechanical calculations, design layouts, cost estimates.
- Completes Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on metallic structures of fleet using ANSYS incl:
- linear static, material & geometric nonlinearity
- power spectral density (PSD)
- collision simulation
- rigid body dynamics
- Diagnose and correct failures and deficiencies within existing rolling stock
- Ensuring designs comply with rail industry regulations and client requirements
- Incorporate whole life costs into design changes, ensuring that designs are cost effective
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- CPEng, RPEQ or MIEAust membership preferrable
- 8+ years experience in the rail / rolling stock industry
- Experience in the design and manufacture of rolling stock and interrelated systems such as brakes, HVAC, traction systems, train control systems, signalling etc
- CAD/ 3D Design experience
- ANSYS
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
