Role Overview

As a Senior Safety Engineer in Cologne, you will play a key role in ensuring plant safety and regulatory compliance across various customer projects. You will lead safety studies, conduct detailed risk assessments, and support regulatory processes while working alongside a dedicated engineering team. This role requires a minimum of three days per week on-site and is a temp-to-perm position, providing an opportunity for long-term placement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Assessment: Perform comprehensive risk assessments to ensure compliance with German regulatory standards, focusing on plant safety.
  • Safety Studies: Plan, organize, and lead qualitative and quantitative safety studies, such as HAZOP, HAZID, What-If, SIL, and LOPA.
  • Process Risk Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of process risks (fire, explosion, overpressure, chemical reactions, toxicity).
  • Development of Safety Concepts: Prepare and implement fire and gas alarm concepts to ensure proactive emergency response planning.
  • Approval Process Support: Manage safety documentation and provide expert support for regulatory approval processes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in plant safety, regulatory compliance, and safety assessment procedures (ideally including BImSchV standards).
  • Skills:
    • Excellent organizational skills and a structured, systematic approach.
    • Strong communication skills and confidence in engaging with stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in German and English.
    • Must be eligible to work in Germany.
