SITE PLANNER – ROADS AND LAYDOWNS

We are proud to be in a position to expand our team and have partnered with Airswift to support our recruitment plans in 2024. We are currently recruiting for a Site planner for a large steel manufacturing plant.
This position would be based in Boden, Sweden on site on a residential basis. This will be a contract role on an initial 12-month period with the possibility of renewal. We can cater for both employed or self-employed options, and it will an all in hourly rate to be discussed further.
Role & Responsibilities
- Site Planning & Layout Design: Develop detailed site layouts, including road infrastructure and laydown areas. Ensure that plans meet both project specifications and safety regulations. Oversee the construction sequence for roads, laydowns, and temporary structures.
- Dynamic Site Management: Use deep knowledge of construction site dynamics to anticipate issues that may arise, such as space constraints, shifting project timelines, material delays, or unexpected environmental conditions. Adjust plans dynamically to keep the project on track.
- Problem Solving (Short-term & Long-term): Quickly identify and resolve immediate, day-to-day issues on the construction site (e.g., resource allocation, logistics hiccups, equipment breakdowns). At the same time, provide strategic foresight to prevent future bottlenecks and delays by implementing long-term solutions that improve workflow efficiency.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Foster close cooperation with the construction team, logistics, safety personnel, contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders. Ensure that everyone is aligned on project objectives, timelines, and safety measures. Regularly update all involved parties on project progress and potential risks.
- Logistics Coordination: Plan and ensure efficient use of laydown areas for storage, staging, and distribution of materials. Support to last mile deliveries
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track the progress of construction activities related to roads and laydowns, making adjustments as necessary. Produce regular progress reports for senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and corrective actions.
Role Requirements
- Proven experience in construction site planning, particularly in roads, laydowns, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of the dynamic nature of construction sites, including the ability to adapt plans quickly in response to unforeseen challenges.
- Extensive knowledge of construction scheduling, logistics, resource management, and cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve effectively under pressure, with a history of resolving short-term and long-term project challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across teams and engage multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management software and construction planning tools.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements in construction.
- Ability to think both strategically and operationally, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
