Job Summary:
The Technical Trainer is responsible for designing and delivering training programs for mechanics, ensuring they are equipped with the latest technical skills and knowledge required for maintaining and repairing the fleet of light and heavy vehicles.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create comprehensive training programs that cover all aspects of heavy and light vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Deliver practical and theoretical training sessions to mechanics and apprentices, both in the classroom and workshop settings.
- Assess the progress and performance of trainees through practical tests, written exams, and feedback sessions.
- Regularly update training materials to reflect the latest industry standards and technological advancements.
- Offer guidance and support to trainees, helping them develop their skills and confidence.
- Ensure all training adheres to safety regulations and promotes a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of trainee progress, attendance, and assessments.
- Continuously improve training methods and materials based on feedback and industry developments.
- Maintain the Training Room and Training Workshop, including all tooling and training resources in good working order and report any deficiencies to the HOD VWS.
- Align training schedules with the Workforce Development Manager ensuring that there are no conflicts in the use of training center resources or facilities.
- Ensure all activities and operations comply with RSPO standards.
- Ensure OHS procedures are followed within the workplace.
Competency:
- Strong technical knowledge of light and heavy vehicle systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools.
- Proficient in Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel)
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Required Qualifications and Experiences:
- Certificate in Heavy Equipment Fitter (HEF) or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in light and heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Minimum of 5 years training experience.
- Trade qualified Vehicle Mechanic (HE or LV) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Be up to date with relevant mechanical diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work in a workshop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other elements.
- Physical ability to conduct hands-on training, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Physically fit to handle heavy equipment, with strong vision abilities including depth perception, distance, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
