Airswift is looking for an Accounting Clerk to work with a major client in Houston, TX on a 10-month assignment.  
Schedule:
9/80 (In office Monday/Tuesday)

The Accounting Clerk/Property Tax Analyst will report to the Property and Severance Tax Manager. The work is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires multi-tasking with a continuous improvement mindset. Significant problem-solving and analytical skills are required to pay the correct amount of tax. The Property Tax Analyst must be a self-starter and be willing to work with external taxing jurisdiction personnel to limit yearly tax liability. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
• Analyze fixed assets by taxing jurisdiction to determine the taxability of the assets based on each jurisdictions laws for those assets.
• Gather required data to prepare annual tax return forms on taxable and reportable personal property.
• Analyze assessment valuation notices on real and personal property to determine reasonableness of fair market values calculated.
• Process property tax bills and work with taxing jurisdiction as issues arise.
• Maintain real and personal property parcel and accounting GL data in the property tax Total Property Tax system.
• Seek to improve tax compliance procedures by suggesting best practices and efficiencies.
• Maintain accuracy and strict adherence to return filing and tax bill payment due dates.

• Stay current with changes in business operations, regulatory requirements, and accounting systems.
• Assist Property Tax Representatives with jurisdictional audit responses and other ad hoc inquires.

Requirements:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
  • Working experience in SAP and be a highly competent computer/systems user.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Education/Experience: bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting or related financial discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in taxation or finance related discipline.
Experience with Total Property Tax System or other property tax compliance system is a plus.
